During the last arctic vortex we had (how is that for being dramatic, weather people!) I got to have a couple of extra days with my kiddos. Wanting to make it special I decided to shake breakfast up a bit. Luckily, I had made a batch of fresh bread the night before.

This is an incredibly easy recipe that I got out of a 1970's Better Homes and Gardens book I found at a library book sale! I'll write about making this bread some other time.

So to make this tasty, yet simple treat I sliced the bread into 1 inch slices. I melted a bit of butter in a frying pan, allowing it to brown just a little. I added the bread, allowing it to fry, like a grilled cheese sandwich. Once both sides were done, I allowed them to cool a bit on a wire rack. Then I plated the toast and used a fantastic little product from Trader Joe's - a cinnamon and sugar grinder. It looks like a sea salt grinder, but it is filled with rock sugar and bits of cinnamon sticks! It was super easy and a nice little treat on a cold morning.
